A skid loader, skid-steer loader, or skid steer is a small, rigid-frame, engine-powered machine with lift arms that can attach to a wide variety of labor-saving tools or attachments.They can be wheel mounted or tracked vehicles. Wheel mounted varieties work better on even, hard ground and can be operated faster than the tracked skid steers. Tracked skid steers perform better in rough and/or wet terrain.
- Bucket of different sizes, multi-purpose, low-profile, light material, etc.
- Bulldozer blades, useful for plowing, bulldozing, and moving heavy materials that are difficult to pick up and move.
- Forks are used to move pallets of material.
- Brush cutters are ideal for the initial pass when clearing land and mowing overgrown areas.
- Augers are used for digging and drilling.
- Trenchers.
- Landscape rakes are used for cutting out soil and gathering sticks and rocks.
- Sweepers are used to collecting dirt, rocks, and other debris.

- A daily or walk-around inspection should be done before starting the equipment to begin work.
- Check for worn, broken, damaged, and missing components.
- Check all fluid levels and top off any low fluids.
- Always set the parking brake when leaving the equipment unattended.
- Operate the equipment with caution when on uneven terrain.
- Always check the blind spots of the equipment.
- Always wear proper PPE while operating the equipment.
- Keep up with the preventative maintenance and upkeep of a skid steer.
